Ingredients :
White or Red Aval(poha) - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup
Grated coconut - 2 tsp
Salt - as required
For the seasoning :
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Dry red chilly - 1 (cut into small pieces)
Preparation :
White or Red Aval(poha) - 1 cup

Preparation :
- Grind the aval coarsely and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when its popup then add urad dal, curry leaves and dry red chilies.
- Now add 1 cup of water and boil it.
- Once it starts boiling then add aval mixture, required salt and mix it well in low flame.
- Cook the aval until it absorbs all water.
- Then add grated coconut and switch off the flame.
- Keep it aside for few minutes to become cool. (not very much)
- Make a cylinder shape balls by pressing it with your fingers.
- Arrange it in a greased idli plate and steam cook it for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Serve it hot with any chutney.
